Armin Laschet: Yerevan-Baku peace opens new opportunities for EU, Central Asia

Germany will continue to support the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Report informs referring to Armenian media.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between Armenian Ambassador to Germany Viktor Yengibaryan and Chairman of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee Armin Laschet.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the initialing of the peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan and the establishment of interstate relations. Armin Laschet positively noted the desire of the parties to resolve all issues peacefully.
"The peace agreement put an end to the long-standing conflict that began with the collapse of the Soviet Union. The agreement also contributes to the stabilization of the entire Caucasus region and opens new paths between Europe and Central Asia (CA). Germany will continue to support the peace and reconciliation process," he said.
The Armenian ambassador, in turn, noted that the agreements reached in Washington are beneficial to both the countries of the region and the European Union.
