Georgian economy minister mulls Middle Corridor development with US business mission

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvirivishvili has held a meeting in Tbilisi with representatives of the business mission organized by the US Department of Commerce and discussed prospects for bilateral and regional cooperation with them, Report informs referring to the Georgian Ministry of Economy.

Kvirivishvili emphasized the importance of strategic partnership with the US and stated that the Georgian side is interested in resetting relations and restoring active cooperation.

The minister emphasized major infrastructure projects - the construction of the East-West highway, modernization of the railway and renewal of port infrastructure, which should strengthen the country's transit function and increase the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor.

At the meeting, it was also noted that American businessmen, in addition to Georgia, had previously visited Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, where they got acquainted with the region's opportunities in the areas of trade, energy, infrastructure and logistics.

The visit was carried out within cooperation between the US Department of Commerce, the US-Georgia Business Council (AGBC), the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.
