Armenia, US mull TRIPP project, increasing mutual trade

US Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan and Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan have discussed the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP, a 42-kilometer section of the Zangazur Corridor that will pass through Armenia), Report informs referring to Armenian media.
Papoyan emphasized that Armenia is showing great interest in the TRIPP project, proposed to ensure the attraction of private investment, as well as initiate the development of a roadmap for the implementation of the program.
The minister also noted that Armenia attaches great importance to American experience and support in modernizing infrastructure and ensuring border security.
The parties also discussed prospects for expanding US-Armenian economic cooperation and increasing mutual trade turnover.
They touched upon the development of bilateral relations in a number of key areas: trade and investment, agriculture and food security, energy, high technology and innovation, information technology and the digital economy, tourism.
Earlier, Hanrahan stated that the US intends to provide Armenia with $145 million in aid to implement the TRIPP initiative.
