Baku, Tashkent, Ashgabat to boost cooperation on climate and ecology

Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan have agreed to expand cooperation in addressing the consequences of the climate crisis and tackling ecological risks, according to a joint declaration adopted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Chairman of Turkmenistan’s Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov following a trilateral summit held on August 22 in Turkmenbashi, Report informs.

As outlined in a statement by Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, the parties emphasized the importance of joint efforts in mitigating and adapting to climate change, combating environmental risks, protecting biodiversity, and promoting collaborative projects and programs in environmental protection. They also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation on shared initiatives within regional and international platforms that align with the three countries’ common interests.

The leaders also discussed priority areas of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields, underlining the importance of fostering ties among relevant government institutions, public organizations, research centers, higher education institutions, media, and cultural figures.

The declaration reaffirmed the countries’ firm commitment to further strengthening friendship and comprehensive cooperation.
