Azerbaijani coach: Fernando Santos' dismissal to benefit Azerbaijani football

The dismissal of Fernando Santos as head coach of the Azerbaijani national football team will positively impact Azerbaijani football, PRO category coach Azer Baghirov told Report.

Commenting on Santos' departure, Baghirov noted: "When AFFA appointed him as head coach, they considered his previous achievements. But after failing to deliver results with our team, we all felt disappointed. Santos should have been dismissed several matches ago. In any case, ending his tenure is the right decision, and we believe the next appointment will benefit Azerbaijani football."

Fernando Santos was appointed to the head coach position of the Azerbaijan national team in June 2024. The contract with the Portuguese specialist was terminated today by mutual agreement.
