Ambassador: New prospects for Iran-Azerbaijan religious, cultural ties

There are new prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Iran and Azerbaijan in the religious and cultural fields, said Iran's newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilou, Report informs.
He made the remark at a meeting with the Chairman of the State Committee for Religious Affairs, Ramin Mammadov.
Demirchilou emphasized the importance of fostering friendly, neighborly, and brotherly ties, noting that the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan and his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev play a key role in advancing this cooperation.
In response, Mammadov stated that the growing partnership between the two countries under the leadership of Presidents Aliyev and Pezeshkian is contributing positively to collaboration across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the religious tolerance and multicultural environment in Azerbaijan, as well as the conditions created for the free and safe activities of various religious confessions.
Mammadov pointed out that the state has created equal conditions for various religious communities in Azerbaijan. At the same time, the high level of state care for religion in the country covers all confessions, he added.
The chairman also mentioned that the Azerbaijani state's religious policy is reflected in measures implemented towards repairing, restoring, and fundamentally rebuilding places of worship, building new ones, and providing financial assistance to religious communities.
