Azerbaijan doubles expenses on import of gas, water & electricity meters

In January-September 2021, Azerbaijan imported a total of 832,444 gas, water and electricity meters for $31.57 million, Report informs referring to the data of the Statistical Committee.

This is 94.9% more in value terms than in the same period last year, and 40% more in quantitative terms.

During the same period, 29,891 meters worth $439,610 were exported, marking a 27.37% and 62.21% growth from the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 586,051 gas meters for $21.704 million, which is 36.5% and 97.7% more than in the same period last year, respectively. The average import price of a meter for the same period last year was $25.58.

In total, gas meters were supplied from eight countries. Some 97.14% of all imports come from China, and 2.79% from Turkey. The latter was the only export market for gas meters from Azerbaijan. Some 1,623 meters worth $60,360 were delivered to Turkey.

For nine months of this year, 713 water meters were imported for $90,870, which in value terms is 23.25%, and in quantitative terms - 72.34% less than in the same period in 2020. The meters were supplied from nine countries. As many as 184 units were imported from Turkey for $31,400, seven units from Russia for $24,040, 165 units from Slovakia for $17,230, 18 units from Italy for $6,880, 11 units from Germany for $4,720, 263 units from Georgia for $3,170, as well as 62 units from China for $1,510, one meter from the US for $11,000, two units from South Africa for $0,910.

For three quarters of this year, Azerbaijan exported 28,265 units of water meters for $379,010. Some 18,259 units worth $171,110 were delivered to Georgia, 10,000 units worth $99,900 - to Kazakhstan, 6 units worth $108,000 - to Russia. The average import price of the water meter was $127.45 and the average export price was $13.41. For the same period last year, these figures were $45.92 and $11.16, respectively.

In January-September 2021, Azerbaijan purchased 245,680 electricity meters abroad for $9.769 million. This is 91.67% more in the same period of 2020 in value terms, and 50.71% more in quantitative terms. Some 126,188 meters for $8.559 million were supplied from China, 118,911 electricity meters for $1.144 million - from Turkey, 487 meters for $58,970 - from Russia, 94 electricity meters for $8,600 - from 7 countries. The average import price per meter was $39.77.

During the reporting period, a total of three electricity meters were exported to China and Austria for $240.
