Tofig Musayev: Azerbaijani youth plays crucial role in building culture of peace

Azerbaijan's youth policy is built on promoting tolerance and mutual understanding, empowering the younger generation, and their active involvement in political, economic and cultural life, as well as in national development processes and international cooperation, said Ambassador Tofig Musayev, Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Report informs.

He made the remark at the high-level forum dedicated to the Implementation of the Program of Action on Culture of Peace at the UN.

Speaking at the event themed Empowering Youth for a Culture of Peace, the ambassador stated that the active involvement of young people in leadership and decision-making processes is of crucial importance in terms of promoting sustainable development, reducing poverty, and minimizing the risks of conflict and violence.

Musayev underscored that Azerbaijani youth plays an important role in building a culture of peace. In addition, measures taken within the country, especially large-scale post-conflict rehabilitation, restoration, and demining operations, are of special significance, he added.

According to him, these steps are essential to ensure the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons to their native lands.

The diplomat highlighted that Azerbaijan is committed to promoting the values of a culture of peace, as well as implementing international obligations through education, dialogue, and cooperation.
