Azerbaijan to hold roadshows in eight Chinese cities to promote tourism brand

In November of this year, the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau will hold the China Visitor Summit in Baku—a B2B platform that for over ten years has brought together Chinese buyers with international destinations, Florian Zengstschmid, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau, said during the ongoing training in Baku titled “Preparation for the Chinese Tourism Market," according to Report.

“Holding this prestigious event in Azerbaijan for the first time will allow us to host 50 leading Chinese buyers (tour operators and representatives of the tourism sector) in the format of workshops, B2B meetings, and familiarization tours of our regions,” he said.

According to him, this autumn their efforts will culminate in two major roadshows and presentations of Azerbaijan as a tourist destination, which will take place in eight Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Chongqing.

“These partners will be able to get to know Azerbaijan personally. Another important element is the training of guides. Starting this autumn, we are launching a guide training program in cooperation with the Confucius Institute to prepare a new generation of guides fluent in Mandarin, both in Baku and across the country. A third important step, going beyond this year, as noted by the head of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, is the opening of an Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau office in China. This step will strengthen our presence and reinforce the message of the ‘Destination Azerbaijan’ brand,” added Zengstschmid.
