In the near future, the construction of the Gobustan solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts will begin in Azerbaijan - the first renewable energy project in the country, implemented following an auction and with the participation of Chinese investments, Ambassador of China to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said at today's briefing, Report informs.
She noted that the concepts of green development of Azerbaijan and China largely coincide.
"Chinese technologies and equipment open up new opportunities for Azerbaijan in the field of sustainable development. This shows that China's production capacities are capable of meeting Azerbaijan's needs for energy transition," the diplomat noted.
Lu Mei recalled that in June, the country's largest thermal power plant, "November 8", was put into operation in Mingachevir, the equipment for which was supplied by Chinese companies.
At the opening ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated China's contribution to the implementation of the project, calling it an example of successful international cooperation. She also stressed that Chinese companies are also participating in the construction of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron wind power plant, the largest wind energy project in Azerbaijan.
"The construction of the 100 MW Gobustan solar power plant, which will be the first renewable energy project in Azerbaijan following an auction with Chinese investments, will officially begin soon," the ambassador said.
Lu Mei also confirmed that the production of electric buses is planned to be launched in Azerbaijan in the near future.
