What is happening in the White House is not just a meeting of leaders or a summit attended only by Europe, the US, and Ukraine, but also a key stage in the struggle for freedom, democracy, and Ukraine's existence, former President of Ukraine, Chairman of the European Solidarity Party, and MP Petro Poroshenko said during the Verkhovna Rada session held on August 19, Report informs.
Report's Eastern European bureau quotes him as saying that unity with Europe, NATO, and Ukraine prevailed on August 18:
"The world must clearly understand: territorial concessions are taboo. This is the destruction of international law. I am proud that from this tribune, the Verkhovna Rada supported my proposal to enshrine Ukraine's course toward the EU and NATO in the constitution. Putin will never have the right to veto fateful changes for Ukraine. This is the strategic course of our state. But we must remember: Putin needs not just Donbas, but all of Ukraine. That's why he demands the reduction of our army, official status for the Russian language, and the 'protection' of the Russian church."
Poroshenko noted that the main task of the Ukrainian state is to protect the army, language, and faith:
"Because they are the foundation of Ukrainian statehood. If Putin refuses to stop, the answer should be 'Plan B': more weapons, more financial aid, more sanctions, doors open to NATO and the EU."
Poroshenko said it necessary to invite the President of Ukraine to the Verkhovna Rada:
"We need to know what happened in the Washington talks and how we will move forward together afterward?!"
