Minister: Serbia focuses on infrastructure to integrate into Eurasian corridors

Serbia is actively developing its transport infrastructure, building highways and railways to strengthen the country"s transit potential and facilitate the flow of goods between Europe and Asia, Serbia"s Minister of Internal and External Trade, Jagoda Lazarević, said at the first Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF-2025), according to Report.

"We have a particular challenge: we are a landlocked country. Therefore, we have to find ways to make the most of our advantageous geographic location, despite the lack of access to ports. Over the past 12 years, we have focused primarily on infrastructure. We have been building and continue to build highways and railways to ensure connectivity, especially within major European corridors that link Western Europe with Southeastern Europe and further to Asia, to facilitate the movement and flow of goods," she said.

The minister added that since the launch of the "Belt and Road" initiative, Serbia has actively engaged with Asia, seeking opportunities to make the most of Eurasian corridors.

"As for the Middle Corridor, we see challenges with traditional routes-maritime corridors, through which most goods from China and the Far East to Europe and back sometimes face geopolitical difficulties. Therefore, diversifying routes is extremely important," she added.
