Iraq declares three days of mourning after 50 people killed in fire near Baghdad

Iraq has declared three days of mourning for the victims of a massive fire at a shopping mall in the city of Kut, south of Baghdad, which has killed about 50 people, according to the latest figures, governor of Wasit province, Mohammed Jamil al-Mayahi, Report informs via AlJazeera.

"We have lost about 50 people (men, women, and children), as a result of the fire. Local authorities have begun filing lawsuits against the owner of the shopping mall, as well as all those involved. Authorized bodies are continuing to investigate the causes of the fire, and preliminary results will be announced to the public within 48 hours in full transparency," he stressed.

The Wasit police command announced the full mobilization of the province's civil defense forces to extinguish the fire in the hypermarket.
