Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that Copenhagen does not rule out recognizing a Palestinian state, provided it would be democratic.
According to Report, citing Reuters, Frederiksen said:
“We are not saying ‘no’ to recognizing Palestine as a state. We are in favor of it… But, of course, we must be certain that it will be a democratic state.”
She emphasized that, at present, Denmark is not ready to recognize Palestine because a significant part of the Gaza Strip is under the control of Hamas.
