Kazakhstan to begin preparation of intergovernmental agreement on development of TITR

The Government of Kazakhstan will soon begin work on preparing an intergovernmental agreement for the further development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor), Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev said at a government meeting, Report informs.

"On the TITR route, the delivery time has been reduced from 53 to 17 days. Tariffs have remained stable over the past three years and have not changed since 2023," Sauranbayev said.

He also recalled that due to the introduction of digital technologies, the time for processing cargo on the TITR has been reduced from 8 hours to 30 minutes, and train traffic is tracked online, ensuring "unhindered" transit.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is an international transport corridor that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to Türkiye and European countries.

In 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the TITR increased by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons. In 2025, a further increase to 5.2 million tons is expected, of which 4.2 million tons will pass through the countries participating in the route. Of this volume, 2.5 million tons will be dry cargo (equivalent to 96,000 TEU), and 1.7 million tons will be oil. The capacity of the route by 2027 may reach 10 million tons per year.
