Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan to deepen energy and transport ties

Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as energy, transport, and logistics, according to a joint declaration adopted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Chairman of Turkmenistan’s Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov following a trilateral summit held on August 22 in Turkmenbashi, Report informs.

“The parties noted the importance of developing cooperation in the energy sector and emphasized the special significance of mutual engagement in this area,” the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in the published document.

Highlighting the vast potential in transport and logistics and the importance of leveraging the transit capabilities of the three countries, the leaders stressed the need to intensify multimodal transport along the Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan corridor and vice versa. In this regard, they underlined the importance of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the relevant authorities of the three nations.

The statement also welcomed the establishment of a joint working group to discuss the development of transport and communication infrastructure, better coordination, and the simplification of transport procedures.

Additionally, the leaders emphasized the importance of developing air connectivity, business, and tourism between the countries, noting that it would contribute to increased cargo and passenger flows.
