US trade mission visits South Caucasus to assess Middle Corridor potential

The goal of the US trade mission to the South Caucasus is to evaluate the untapped potential of the Middle Corridor, Natig Bakhishov, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan, said during a briefing following the visit of a delegation of American business representatives to Azerbaijan, Report informs.

According to him, the geopolitical landscape of Eurasia and the Middle Corridor has changed significantly in recent years, with notable developments observed in Aktau as well.

"The trade mission is supported by the US government, particularly the US Department of Commerce. Our route started in Kazakhstan, passes through Azerbaijan, and will end in Georgia," Bakhishov said.

He noted that in Azerbaijan, US business representatives met with the management of the Baku Sea Port to discuss cargo flow prospects through the harbor:

"We listened to the port's leadership, who briefed us on future development projects. We also had very productive meetings in Baku with the Ministries of Economy, Transport, and Digital Development, as well as with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Today, we met with the Chairman of the State Customs Committee."

Bakhishov added that the mission members will next head to Georgia.

"We will travel overland to assess the condition of major highways along this segment of the Middle Corridor. This will also allow us to observe customs procedures. We plan to conclude the mission on September 12," he said.
