The joint statement signed on August 8 in Washington by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States marked a significant historical milestone, Metin Kilic, a member of the Ankara Diplomatic Council and representative of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Report's Turkish bureau.
According to him, the United States remains the only force countering the Armenian lobby, opposition groups, and other separatists.
He also emphasized the importance of the August 22 groundbreaking of the Kars-Igdir-Arali-Diluju railway line in the context of implementing the Zangazur Corridor:
"The Zangazur Corridor will connect China and Central Asian countries with Europe via Azerbaijan and Türkiye through rail and land routes, serving as a crucial bridge between East and West. Its implementation will also secure peace in the South Caucasus. It is significant that Armenia shows willingness for peace and recognizes the economic disadvantage of remaining outside the corridor. Particularly noteworthy is that the corridor will help lift the blockade of Nakhchivan, an integral part of Azerbaijan."
