For Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, which have no direct access to the world ocean and are limited by the Caspian Sea, the opening of the Zangazur Corridor is of vital importance for the export and import of goods, Jeff Ehrlich, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, said during a briefing following the visit of a US business delegation to Azerbaijan.
According to Report, he noted that for the business community of Central Asia, the existence of sustainable export routes is extremely important, both for raw materials and for manufactured products:
"Kazakhstan seeks to develop its own production, especially the petrochemical industry. Thus, it is not only about oil, but also about petrochemical products, and in this context, the availability of various transport routes is of great significance," Ehrlich said.
According to him, at the same time, this corridor is also of great importance for the import of goods.
"Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are two countries that have access to the Caspian Sea but are landlocked. Therefore, the opening of the Zangazur Corridor is of vital importance precisely for such countries. This corridor is important both for exporting their goods and for importing products from abroad. With this opportunity, they may have a bright future."
