Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan hold trilateral meeting in Avaza

Avaza, Turkmenistan, hosted a trilateral meeting between the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers.

Asadov conveyed the greetings of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan and the head of state of Uzbekistan.

Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev, in turn, expressed their gratitude for President Ilham Aliyev's greetings and asked to convey their greetings to the head of state of Azerbaijan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Azerbaijan holds a special place within the family of Central Asian countries and in the Consultative Council of Heads of State. They highlighted the significant efforts made by the President of Azerbaijan in this direction and noted that Azerbaijan, together with the countries of the region, carries great importance for Eurasia and the wider world.

The Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan noted stated that the format of cooperation between Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan already exists in practice, has become a necessity of the times, and emphasized the importance of turning this format into a permanent framework.

He also pointed out that President Ilham Aliyev considers cooperation in the Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan format essential, and described this meeting as laying the foundation for a new trilateral format.

At the first meeting held in this trilateral format, the development of humanitarian and cultural ties, as well as topics related to economic cooperation, were discussed.

In the economic sphere, mutual interest was expressed in expanding strategic cooperation in key areas such as transportation, logistics, and the energy sector.

During his visit to Azerbaijan, Berdimuhamedov stated that an agreement had been reached with President Ilham Aliyev on the construction of a mosque in the Fuzuli district, as well as on the twinning of the cities of Fuzuli and Arkadag.
