Shahbazov: Azerbaijan-Türkiye energy cooperation provides access to new markets

More than 120 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been exported from Azerbaijan to Türkiye so far, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 4th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum held today in Izmir, Report informs.

According to Shahbazov, 35 billion cubic meters of that volume were transported via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP):

"During this period, over 50 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas have been delivered to Europe through TANAP. In just the first eight months of this year, 6.6 billion cubic meters were exported to Türkiye, while 8.3 billion cubic meters were sent to European countries via Türkiye."

The minister also noted that Azerbaijan's gas export geography now spans 14 countries and is expanding beyond Europe into the Middle East:

"As a result of the strategic alliance and political solidarity between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Azerbaijani gas is also contributing to Syria's energy security. Within the plan to supply 1.2 billion cubic meters annually via Türkiye's Kilis pipeline, 60 million cubic meters have already been delivered to Syria in a short period. This once again shows that Azerbaijan and Türkiye are successfully expanding access to new markets and strengthening regional energy solidarity through diversified routes."
