Azerbaijan discusses green energy solutions in its liberated territories

The Energy Ministry of Azerbaijan has convened the 10th meeting of the working group tasked with coordinating and monitoring the application of green technologies and energy efficiency requirements in the country's liberated territories, Report informs, citing the ministry.
Chairman of the Working Group, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, spoke about the large-scale restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
It was noted that the promotion of green technologies, increasing energy efficiency in the territories and expanding the use of renewable energy sources are considered as important directions in the new strategic documents being prepared to ensure the sustainability of socio-economic development and Great Return of Azerbaijan.
Information was provided on the implementation of the decisions made at the previous meeting of the Working Group, and reports on the work done on the establishment of the green energy zone were heard.
The results of the monitoring carried out in Shusha, Kalbajar and Jabrayil cities, Shukurbayli and Horovlu villages of Jabrayil region, as well as hydroelectric power plants in Lachin and Kalbajar were reviewed.
Information was given about the steps taken to connect rooftop solar panels to the grid in 334 individual residential houses in Horovlu village, as well as educational measures covering practical recommendations on the use of renewable energy sources organized for the population of Shusha and Lachin cities, as well as Zabukh village. Measures taken to ensure high energy efficiency in buildings were presented, including statistics on installed LED lighting poles, solar-based hybrid lighting systems, electric charging stations, electric buses in operation, and solar panels installed on public buildings.
Decisions were made regarding the application of environmentally progressive solutions in the liberated territories, expanding opportunities for energy savings, implementation of pilot projects, testing of modern technologies, and the improvement of monitoring and accounting mechanisms.
In addition to the state institutions that are members of the Working Group, the meeting was attended by the representatives of the Special Representative Offices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories, the Restoration, Construction and Management Service public legal entity, the Shusha City State Reserve Administration, and Azeristiliktechizat OJSC.
