World Cup 2026 opens with Mexico–South Africa match

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has officially begun in Mexico.
According to Report, in the opening match of Group A, the Mexican national team is facing South Africa.
The match at the Azteca stadium (renamed Mexico City Stadium for the duration of the 2026 World Cup – ed.) in Mexico City is being officiated by a refereeing team led by FIFA referee Wilton Sampaio from Brazil.
The opening whistle of the match sounded at 23:00.
