Rector: Baku State University expands cooperation with Arab countries

Baku State University (BSU) has been steadily expanding its cooperation with several Arab nations in recent years, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev said during the opening ceremony of “Arabic Language Month,” held at the university in collaboration with the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, based in Saudi Arabia.

According to Report, he emphasized the deep historical ties between the Azerbaijani people and the Arabic language: “For centuries, our scholars have used Arabic to share Azerbaijan’s scientific heritage with the Arab world.”

The rector also highlighted the role of BSU’s Faculty of Oriental Studies:

“Today, Arabic language and literature are taught at the faculty. We are expanding instruction to further develop our students’ proficiency. Azerbaijani youth increasingly value foreign language skills, and Arabic is among them. BSU has intensified its partnerships with Arab countries in recent years.”

Babayev added that the university is taking consistent steps to enhance Arabic language education and strengthen ties with the Arab world:

“We are confident that these efforts will contribute to the scientific and professional growth of our youth and reinforce the bridge of friendship and cooperation between our nations.”
