Nigar Arpadarai: Number of smart cities, villages should be increased

The number of smart cities and villages in Azerbaijan should be increased, Nigar Arpadarai, COP29 High-Level Climate Champion, stated during the third day of Baku Climate Action Week 2025 (BCAW2025), Report informs.

She noted that while women's participation in the economy stands at around 20%, which is not a poor indicator, it still needs to be improved.

Arpadarai emphasized that last year's natural disasters in Azerbaijan caused significant financial damage: "Finance is a key factor in these matters. Smart cities enable safer living. Therefore, the number of smart cities and villages should be increased. Based on COP29 outcomes, a reduction in traditional energy resources is planned by 2030. Azerbaijan is making considerable efforts toward this goal."
