Mukhtar Babayev discusses climate crisis impact on Global South with Pakistan's climate minister

Pakistan's Minister for Climate Affairs Musadik Malik held a meeting with COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev and Chief Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev.

According to Report, citing the Pakistani ministry, the meeting took place within the framework of an informal climate meeting in Shamakhi.

The parties discussed financing for climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, cooperation in renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and strengthening the green partnership between the two countries.

The Pakistani minister emphasized that climate change is a “transboundary crisis requiring urgent, fair, and science-based global action.”

Malik noted that Global South countries are facing the most severe impacts of climate change, while responsibility for historical and ongoing atmospheric damage lies with Global North nations.
