UK Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty discussed opportunities for new investments during a meeting in Baku with representatives of British companies operating in Azerbaijan.
Report informs that, according to the British Embassy in Azerbaijan, the meeting took place during Doughty’s one-day visit and included a working lunch with members of the UK business community in the country.
The discussions focused on expanded opportunities for investment and strategic partnership, with particular attention to Azerbaijan’s role as a regional energy leader and the country’s exceptional potential in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, also known as the Middle Corridor).
“This cooperation directly supports the UK’s mission to become a clean energy superpower while also advancing Azerbaijan’s goals of further economic diversification and development,” the embassy stated.
Doughty also highlighted the strong position of British companies in the Azerbaijani market:
“BP’s long-standing presence here is well known, but I am equally pleased with new partnerships in clean energy, infrastructure, and professional services. The work of Chapman Taylor (an architectural and planning firm) in Shusha and Nakhchivan, as well as the successful export financing deal for flight simulators, demonstrate how UK expertise is helping to shape Azerbaijan’s future,” he noted.
