Documentary film titled “The Story of Khankandi” premieres in Baku

The documentary film titled “The Story of Khankandi” was premiered in Baku, Report informs.

The event was attended by heads of various non-governmental organizations (NGOs), public figures, and media representatives.

Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, Ramil Iskandarli, noted that the film highlights acts of vandalism committed against Azerbaijan and its cultural heritage.

“It also reflects violations of international law against Azerbaijan, as well as the theme of return to Karabakh following its liberation.”

Board member of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, Zaur Ibrahimli, referred to the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty on October 15, 2023: “President Ilham Aliyev raising our national flag in Khankandi was a moment of immense pride for us,” he said.

Later, Chairwoman of the Khankandi Public Union for Support to IDPs, Khatira Valiyeva, and the film’s screenwriter, Bakhtiyar Garaja, shared their thoughts.

Following the speeches, the film was screened.

The project was produced by the Khankandi Public Union for Support to IDPs.

The documentary centers on the history and cultural heritage of Khankandi, one of Karabakh’s ancient cities, and the longing for homeland preserved in the memories of internally displaced persons.

The film is based on testimonies of real witnesses, archival footage, and photo-video materials.

The aim of the project is not only to preserve the memory of a lost homeland, but also to document the restoration of Karabakh and convey its truths to future generations.
