Azerbaijan significantly cuts wheat imports from Russia

In January-July 2025, Azerbaijan imported 646,336 tons of wheat worth $140.1 million, Report informs, referring to the country's State Statistical Committee.
Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, this represents a 37% increase in value and a 40% rise in volume.
During this period, Azerbaijan imported 558,669 tons of wheat worth $119.6 million from Kazakhstan-no imports were recorded from this country a year earlier.
Imports from Russia totaled 87,657 tons worth $20.6 million, marking a fivefold decrease compared to the previous year. From Türkiye, Azerbaijan imported just 8.55 tons of wheat valued at $6,200-a drop of 74% in value and 89% in volume year-on-year.
In 2024, 90.2% of the 1.292 million tons of wheat imported into Azerbaijan came from Russia.
