Azerbaijan"s pineapple imports from Thailand, China soar

In the first half of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 1,428 tons of pineapples (fresh or dried) worth $1.81 million, Report informs, referring to the country"s State Statistical Committee.
Despite an 11% decline in volume, the imports grew by 22% in value compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
In the specified period, Azerbaijan purchased pineapple from:
- Costa Rica: 1,244 tons (-21%) worth $1.38 million (-2%);
- Thailand: 69 tons (+5 times) worth $282,000 (+5 times);
- China: 68.4 tons (+34 times) worth $88,100 (11 times more);
- Panama: 23 tons worth $27,570 (no supply a year ago);
- Belgium: 20.4 tons worth $24,500 (no supply a year ago).
Overall, Azerbaijan imported 2,892 tons of pineapples in 2024, of which 98.2% came from Costa Rica.
