Elnara Ansari: Azerbaijan implemented fully electronic disability system for first time in region

The protection of the rights of persons with disabilities and their social welfare is one of the main directions of state policy in Azerbaijan, stated by Elnara Ansari, Director of the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center and member of the Supervisory Board of the Agency for State Support to NGOs, at the "Roundtable on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that Azerbaijan was the first in the region to implement a fully electronic disability system:
"After joining the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2008, Azerbaijan carried out significant reforms in the direction of aligning national legislation with international standards and transitioning from a medical approach to a social model."
According to E. Ansari, the adoption of the Law "On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" in Azerbaijan in 2018 created a strong legal framework for ensuring equal rights, rehabilitation, employment opportunities, and social inclusivity.
