Elmir Valizada: Social networks may expose children to negative influence

Protecting children from harmful online content is of strategic importance for society amid the growing influence of social networks on the younger generation, Elmir Valizada, head of the sector at the Department for Work with NGOs and Communications of the Presidential Administration, said during a public discussion on draft amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences, as well as the laws "On Information, Informatization and Information Protection" and "On Protection of Children from Harmful Information."

According to him, social networks have already become an integral part of modern life and a daily tool for most people.

"Children are our future, and their protection, primarily from harmful influence, is of great importance for our country and society. Today, almost everyone uses social networks daily for various purposes. However, unfortunately, children"s use of such platforms exposes them to certain negative influences even before reaching adulthood," Valizada said.
