US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Orl Litzenberger reacted to the appeal by Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, chair of the Caucasus Muslims Office to US President Donald Trump over humanitarian problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic in Iran and the existing sanctions against it.
The diplomat expressed the US’s concern over the issue.
“We share the concerns of the world community for the Iranian people. Our sanctions do not target or limit humanitarian trade, assistance, or any benevolent activities with Iran,” said the response letter.
The Ambassador also stressed that the United States has been supporting Azerbaijan since it gained independence and is interested in continuing the partnership in the future.
