Azerbaijan's religious denominations support Washington Declaration

Religious denominations operating in Azerbaijan have issued a statement in support of the joint Washington Declaration signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia on August 8, Report informs.

The statement was adopted on Wednesday at a meeting of the Consultative Council of Religious Confessions of Azerbaijan dedicated to Remembrance Day, which is celebrated in the country on September 27.

A statement released by Gamar Javadli, deputy chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board, notes: "The joint declaration, which marked the beginning of a new era in our region, is an official confirmation not only of the normalization of interstate relations but also of the establishment of peace, stability, and prosperity. The President of Azerbaijan has given his people another global victory, achieved the restoration of historical justice in the international political arena, affirmed the country's sovereignty at the highest level, and opened new prospects for the state and the region. (...) The leaders of Azerbaijan's religious denominations and believers highly value the Washington Accords as a triumph of peace diplomacy and wise leadership, expressing their support and prayers."

The joint declaration signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington consists of seven points aimed at supporting the peace process and unblocking regional communications.
