The trilateral working group (Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia) on unblocking communications in the South Caucasus has formulated all the decisions, and the parties are currently maintaining contact in a bilateral format, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told TASS in an interview on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Report informs.
"The group has not met since early July 2023, although we maintain contact at the bilateral level. And we exchange opinions on what is happening. After all, the co-chairs of the trilateral working group are also my colleagues on the intergovernmental commissions, and we communicate a lot," the deputy prime minister said, answering a question about the fate of the group.
"The group worked meticulously, going into the smallest details, considering the most diverse aspects of unblocking in the South Caucasus," Overchuk continued. "We considered everything from a variety of angles. In principle, all decisions within the trilateral working group were formulated, and at least it is clear what needs to be done and how."
On January 11, 2021, the leaders of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to create a working group at the level of deputy prime ministers of the three countries, which will focus on establishing transport and economic ties in the region.
