Kazakhstan, Georgia to sign strategic partnership statement

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze have held talks in a limited format in Astana.
Report's Kazakhstan bureau informs, citing Akorda (the President's office), that the meeting took place as part of Kobakhidze's official visit to Kazakhstan.
Tokayev said Kazakhstan considers Georgia a strategically important and traditional partner. He noted that the countries maintain close ties in the economic, humanitarian and other spheres.
The president said there were still broad untapped opportunities to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia.
Kobakhidze said Georgia attaches special importance to relations with Kazakhstan. He stressed that the sides support strong political and economic ties, as well as cooperation in education and culture.
The Georgian prime minister noted that the sides would sign a joint statement on strategic partnership during the visit. According to him, the document will give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
