Japarov, Kobakhidze hold discussions on launch of direct flights

Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov and Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze discussed prospects for opening direct flights between the two countries during a meeting in Bishkek, Report informs, citing the Kyrgyz President's press service.

The talks took place as part of Kobakhidze's official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

Special attention was given to transport connectivity and the development of transit potential.

President Japarov highlighted Georgia's geographic position and Black Sea port infrastructure, noting its important role as a transport hub between Asia and Europe.

He also recalled the signing of a trilateral agreement in June 2024 on the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, stressing that the project will become a key element of Eurasian transport corridors and significantly increase cargo flows from Kyrgyzstan to Georgia's seaports.

At the conclusion of the talks, Japarov and Kobakhidze confirmed their interest in strengthening bilateral partnership and implementing joint projects.

Kobakhidze invited Japarov to pay an official visit to Georgia, and the Kyrgyz President accepted the invitation.
