In 2025, Azerbaijan produced chemical products worth more than $1.3 billion, Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), said during panel discussions at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group's 51st Annual Meetings in Baku, Report informs.
Abdullayev noted that the chemical and petrochemical industry remains one of Azerbaijan's strongest industrial sectors: "In 2025, the total value of chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber, and plastic products exceeded $1.3 billion. The project portfolio of residents operating in Sumgayit Industrial Park reached about $3.5 billion. This sector offers high investment potential thanks to local hydrocarbon resources, modern infrastructure, and established export channels. Key investment areas include specialty and construction chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics processing, packaging products, sealants, and sustainable chemical solutions."
He added that both local and foreign investors have significant opportunities in this field: "We see strong demand and broad development prospects in the chemical and petrochemical industry. This sector will remain one of the main drivers of Azerbaijan's industrial development in the coming years."
