Georgian President pardons opposition figure

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has signed an order to pardon the opposition figure Giorgi Rurua, Report informs.
The condition laid by the President to pardon G. Rurua has already been fulfilled. Thus, the representatives of the opposition, who were elected to parliament and signed a plan to overcome the political crisis jointly with the government, began to participate in the activities of the parliament today. Currently, the number of opposition deputies in the parliament is 13.
One of the shareholders of the Georgian opposition TV channel Mtavari Arkhi, businessman G. Rurua, was arrested in November 2019 for illegal acquisition and possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to four years in prison in July last year.
