Georgian expert: Peace desire in South Caucasus becoming reality

Peace in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia is a condition that the peoples living in the region have desired for centuries, well-known Georgian expert and political scientist Gia Abashidze told Report.

Abashidze underscored that today this goal is becoming a reality thanks to the efforts of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as US President Donald Trump in Washington.

He noted that although the road to peace is long, it is possible to achieve it:

"Conflicts and wars are not the way forward. The way forward is peace, prosperity, and stability. In this regard, the opening of the Zangazur transport corridor, which is an alternative to the corridor passing through Georgia, as well as all these transport routes passing through the South Caucasus, is of great importance for the welfare of our peoples, economic development, and future prospects," Abashidze said.
