Kuleba: Kyiv to support restoration of Azerbaijani energy facilities in Ukraine damaged by attacks

Infrastructure facilities with Azerbaijani capital in Ukraine have been suffering from Russian shelling, but Ukraine will do everything possible to restore and protect them in the future, Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Communities and Territory Development, told Report’s Eastern Europe Bureau.

He noted that Azerbaijan is among the countries providing Ukraine with regular humanitarian assistance not only during the current conflict but also “throughout 11 years of struggle against the aggressor.”

“Unfortunately, infrastructure facilities with Azerbaijani investment in Ukraine are being hit by Russian shelling. I want to assure our friends and partners that we will do everything possible to restore and protect these facilities in the future,” Kuleba said.

He added that Ukraine has many joint projects with Azerbaijan, which is actively helping in the country’s reconstruction:

“I must highlight major joint energy projects, which are extremely important for us ahead of the heating season, as well as the support package provided by Azerbaijan,” he noted.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that on the night of August 18, Russia deliberately attacked oil infrastructure facilities of Azerbaijan’s state oil company in Odesa. The Ukrainian leader described the strikes as “demonstrative and cynical.”
