Bank employee in Armenia steals about $1.2M

An employee of the Bank of Armenia is accused of stealing about 458 million drams (about $1.2 million), said the press service of the Armenian Investigative Committee, Report informs.

According to the case materials, the head of the Internal Audit Department of one of the Armenian banks committed illegal actions by concluding a contract with five citizens. In particular, he falsified the documents in which the companies provided a number of services to the bank. The criminal scheme operated from 2015 to 2018.

A criminal case has been initiated against the employee of the bank K.X. He is charged with fraud, money laundering, abuse of office, forging documents, stamps, seals, forms or making and using forged documents, stamps, seals, and forms.

The suspect paid bail in the amount of 6.1 million drams (about $16 thousand), his property was banned, and the case was sent to court.
