Armenia may restrict social media access for children under 16

Armenia is considering the possibility of restricting access to social media for children under the age of 16, said Tamara Sargsyan, Head of the General Education Department at Armenia's Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Report informs via Armenpress.
Sargsyan noted that the Education Ministry is discussing the issue with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Ministry of High‑Tech Industry.
She emphasized that digital protection of children is a priority, and the state must ensure the availability of sufficient tools and regulations to safeguard children in the digital environment:
"Research is being conducted to identify all key opportunities, risks, and problems. Only once the full picture becomes clear will it be possible to determine which websites need to be blocked."
