Secretary: Azerbaijan and Armenia remain active SCO dialogue partners

Azerbaijan and Armenia are actively engaged as dialogue partners within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), according to SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev said in an interview with RIA Novosti, Report informs.

Yermekbayev noted that both countries actively participate in the organization"s collaborative framework and joint events.

Commenting on Azerbaijan and Armenia's intentions to elevate their status within the SCO, Yermekbayev emphasized that any decision on admitting new members is made by consensus among all member states.

"At present, all existing applications are being considered by the SCO member countries," he added.

Currently, Azerbaijan holds the status of a dialogue partner and has officially submitted a request to upgrade its role to that of an observer within the organization.
