The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has announced the launch of a six-month Ebola response plan valued at $518 million.
According to Reuters, cited by Report, the initiative will be implemented jointly with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and will cover the period from June to November.
Ghebreyesus said the plan is based on lessons learned from previous outbreaks and recent global health emergencies.
"We are not starting from scratch. This plan builds on experience from previous disease outbreaks and recent public health emergencies," he stated.
He expressed confidence that the spread of the disease can be contained, stressing that effective response requires strong political commitment, sustained funding, and active engagement with local communities.
The WHO official emphasized that coordinated international efforts remain critical to preventing wider transmission and strengthening outbreak preparedness systems.
