UN: Communication with Taliban exists via coordinator for humanitarian affairs from Azerbaijan

The UN continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan through its 3,000 employees in the region. The UN has no direct contact with the Taliban leadership. The main contact with them in Kabul is implemented through United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan Ramiz Alekperov, UN Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric, said at a press conference, the local bureau of Report informs.
Dujarrik said that the Secretary-General considers it essential to ensure the safety of UN personnel in the region and continue to provide humanitarian assistance while staying there.
