Spain to provide Ukraine with about €1B in aid this year

Spain's Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has announced that his country's assistance to Ukraine will amount to roughly €1 billion in 2025, Report informs via El País.

According to Albares, the package will include weapons purchased in the United States for Ukraine under the PURL initiative, as well as other equipment such as generators to help mitigate the impact of Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

"Spain has a long-term commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and defense and will maintain it for as long as the war continues," he said.

When asked about the scale of this commitment, the minister noted that Spain allocated €1 billion last year for Ukraine's military equipment needs and that a similar level of support is expected this year.
