Mexico to provide political asylum to Julian Assange

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has announced that he will grant political asylum to Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
At a press conference, the President said he would instruct the foreign minister to prepare relevant documents in this regard.
The Mexican leader welcomed the London Central Criminal Court's decision in the case of Julian Assange, calling it a triumph of justice.
Vanessa Baraitzer, a judge at Britain's Central Criminal Court in London, has rejected a US request for the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. If Assange is extradited to the United States, he faces up to 175 years in prison.
