Vice-President of the European Parliament, Katarina Barley, called for Hungary to be deprived of its voting rights in the European Union, Report informs, citing foreign media.
"This country is abusing the EU's unanimity rule as a blackmail tool," the deputy head of the European Commission said on Thursday in an interview with MDR Aktuell.
She pointed out that "a country's voting rights may be suspended for violating the rule of law." "In Hungary, in particular, there are no longer democratic and rule-based conditions," assessed Barley.
