Spain allocates €25M for unaccompanied migrant children

The Spanish government will allocate €25 million in additional funding to support unaccompanied migrant children who have arrived in the autonomous city of Ceuta during the current migration crisis, Minister of Social Security and Migration Elma Saiz announced during a briefing, Report informs via EFE.

"The government will allocate an extraordinary €25 million, in addition to the €5.5 million already approved at the Conference on Childhood and Adolescence held in July last year," Saiz said.

She added that the decision demonstrates the government's continued support for Ceuta, particularly for its most vulnerable residents.

Earlier, Ceuta government official Alberto Gaitán said that the city's reception centers for unaccompanied migrant children are operating at nearly 30 times their intended capacity. According to him, 862 migrant children are currently being accommodated in the city.
